Verb Form in the “If Clause”

  • Simple Present

1. If the weather is bad tomorrow, we (go) will not go on a picnic.
The fact is, the weather is good.

2. Water (boil) will boil if the temperature goes 212°F/100°C.

This situation express a habitual activity.

3. If I don’t take a rest tomorrow, I (get) will get tired during class.

The fact is, I don’t take a rest.

4. If I have much money, I (buy) will buy a nice car with a luxurious dashboard.

The fact is, I don’t have much money

5. The fire (grow up) will grow up if there are an oxygen.

This situation express an established.


  • Simple Past

  1. If I had enough chocolate, I (bake) would bake a blackforrest tomorrow.

The fact is, I didn’t have enough chocolate.

  1. I would fix your skirts if I (have) had a scissors of the proper size.

The fact is, I didn’t have a scissors.

  1. If he came here right now, he (help) would tell us about the party.

The fact is, he didn't come here right now.

  1. Rani always helped me correct my report if she (be) was in her office.

The fact is, Sally wasn’t in her office.

  1. If I goes to that class, I (meet) would met your niece.

The fact is, I didn’t go to that class.


    • Past Perfect

  1. If you (tell) had told me about the party, I would have came.

The fact is, you hadn’t tell me about the party.

The fact is, I hadn’t have enough money.
